Frequently Asked Questions

1. Why should we enroll our child in an ed-5000 program? We have years of experience in education having worked in Colleges and Secondary Schools with teachers, professors, and students developing virtual courses and curriculum in multiple mediums. While working in these environments we learned what colleges and secondary schools can and cannot achieve within their unique political and socioeconomic conditions. As a result, we decided to create a set of new programs to meet the needs of the market place, and lower the overall cost of education for young people looking for advanced career education early in their academic life. Our instructors have held successful positions with small startups to major multi-nationals. In these positions they have engineered software programs and products for Banking, Business, Retail, Education and Entertainment industries. It is based on these experiences that we can confidently deliver real professional career guidance to your child during their secondary years that can help them move forward faster, more confidently, and with a better understanding of their possible career paths.

2. How can you guarantee our child an internship? We have a strong network of industry insiders that we’ve worked with for years throughout the United States, India, U.K. and Canada. Although we can’t guarantee an internship with a specific company, we can guarantee that those students successfully completing our program have a 90% chance of obtaining an internship. Those students that do not receive an internship will be given a $1,000 college scholarship, and a recommendation to the college of their choice.  We also encourage students to seek internships outside of our network, with our help and guidance in obtaining them.

3. What is the key to success in your program? The key to success in our program is motivation. We do not grade students on how fast they complete a lab, or test. We simply want to see that they can perform the tasks asked of them. Everyone learns differently, some people start strong and then reach an educational plateau, while others start slow and increase their knowledge over time becoming masters in their program of study. We don’t discriminate on how people learn, we encourage them to learn. And so the only real impedance to success in our program is one’s own motivation.

4. Why don’t you consider your programs a Virtual High School? The term Virtual High School implies courses that are tied directly to High School curriculum. Our program is not tied to High School curriculum and as a result does not fall victim to accreditation committees, political groups or agendas. Our agenda is simple, educate your child in the program of their choice so that upon graduation they can obtain an internship or job. That internship can help them pay for college or help them in starting their career early.

5. Is this a career program or certificate program? This is not a traditional certification program or career training program. Most certificate programs are tied to short-term testing via memorization of key facts. Students of our program perform skill assessments, but unlike most programs, students can use the internet and books to look up information just as in the real world. After taking our assessments students will have made real decisions, and demonstrated that they understand the course content. Students can repeatedly take the skills assessments until they have successfully demonstrated their understanding of the course material. For example, in the software development program, real software application development is required for successful program completion.

6. How many students are allowed in each class? We try to maintain 25 students per class. Our lectures may have up to 100 students. Students will receieve one on one time with the instructor. Students in lab based courses must choose their lab by the first 2 weeks of the second semester.
